Every monthly donation helps more villages get access to ground water

The residents of a village called Bhatrakere in Uttar Karnataka were experiencing an acute shortage of drinking water. Depletion and degradation of existing water resources had gone unnoticed, thus adding to the mounting issue.

Workers from TRDCs Paryavaran project intervened and motivated the villagers to invest in water harvesting projects to meet their water needs. Owing to the constant efforts of the team, the village now has a wetland which fills up dutifully during monsoons, recharges groundwater and provides drinking water for the cattle and wildlife in the region, along with providing for the irrigation of the village paddy fields.

The wetlands in the village now serve for all the water requirements of the village.

Access to water harvesting projects will help villages in becoming self-sustained for their water requirements
